1000 Day Project

Did you know 1000 days is 2 years and 8 months and 25 days?

December 2023, I committed to drawing something each day for 100 days. It felt like the most unachievable goal of my life, yet I kept at it, each day without fail. 7 April 2024, with many tears and deep emotions, I finished that project.

This was the first goal I remember setting and achieving, it was transformative and the change in my life I didn't know I needed. Those 100 days of drawing were an invitation into a better version of myself, teaching me kindness, compassion, perseverance, patience, and that I can do more than thought possible. I wanted to keep going, so continued the project to 250 days.

I met that milestone on 4 September 2024. Still I keep going, one day at a time, soon arriving at 31 December 2024; I closed the year having drawing every day of 2024 - a leap year too, for 366 daily drawings.

I'd given myself a year of data points, progress, and proof of what I can accomplish. More importantly, I'd given myself permission to dream big. So New Year's Eve 2024 in Sydney, hearing the fireworks from across the city, had the thought to keep going to 1000 days.

And surprisingly, my body just ... agreed with my mind. I was excited about this  lofty goal, it felt doable and realistic, as compared to previous versions of myself that would have immediately thought "I can't do that."

So here we are, in July 2026. My daily count is over 930, I've drawn each day of 2024, 2025, and over half of 2026. I now in the final stretch, moving towards the summit of 1000 days of daily drawings:

Thursday, 24 September 2026.

It feels so close now! Like I'll just blink and it will suddenly be tomorrow.
To commemorate the past 2 years almost 9 months, I've been planning a special work, that I will start and finish on the day. It will be a larger paper than I've used before, to ensure I have enough room.

So dear friends from afar, watch this space and my socials as we get closer to the day. I invite you to celebrate with me and know, you are enough, you can do hard things, you are beautiful.

I love you, thank you for being here and for being yourself.
